Love Of Vietnam Expressed

 Helping the Poor & Needy

(1 John 3:16-18 NKJV): By this, we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Notes: With the help of our sponsors and supporters, our children were given the needed support to perform at their best level. Without this help, many more would not have moved on to middle school. But as you can see, most children (93.3%) had the background needed to pass the test into high school and are continuing their education. This is made possible by your support that enables them to take the extra courses necessary to pass the tests. At present, the most critical stage is the jump from High School to tertiary education which includes Junior College, College and University. Starting from 2015, high school graduation and university entrance merged into one exam. Each student will take at least 4 subjects for exam including 3 compulsory: mathematic, literature and foreign language (mostly English) and 1 sub-subject such as physics, chemistry, geography, biology, history. After the result has been given, the students can use their score to pass high school graduation exam and to go to their desired college with 3 chosen points from the 4 given. However, a statistic from a recent survey shows that the unemployment rate in Vietnam has been higher, which scares many children that they would hardly find a right job even after graduating from College or University. This reason explains why the number of our children continuing to go to a higher education is lower than in previous years. It’s only 7 out of 13. Looking at the table, we also see that all 7 of those in their final year graduated. In the whole, 47 students were supported in university or college.

Medical Mission in Ka Dang, Dong Giang, Quang Nam province

In September, LOVE happily made a contribution to the medical mission trip in Ka Dang commune, Dong Giang district, Quang Nam province. Over 250 inhabitants, including the elderly, the children and the handicapped were served. Thank God for giving us this great opportunity.

One of rough sloping roads leading to mission destination. Carrying medicine and gifts by motorbike from 8 km away where bus stopped. Hundreds of people were patiently waiting.

Among them there were many sick elderly people and even handicapped children.

Appeal for prayer and donation: L.O.V.E. is planning to bless our children and a group of poor elderly and/or handicapped people again this Christmas. For our humanitarian mission trip in December, we think about minority tribes in a very remote mountainous areas in South Tra My District in Quang Nam Province.

South Trà My is a rural district of Quảng Nam Province in the South Central Coast region of Vietnam. Different ethnic groups inhabit this mountainous district; over 80% of its population is Ca-dong and Xe-dang people. The living standards of local people are low; poverty rate remains high with seasonal hunger. Forestry and agriculture brings the main income of the district. South Tra My District has a is known for its cinnamon products and Ngoc Linh Ginseng, which are its main exports.

We are planning to give out 100-125 gifts of $10-$15 each or a total of $1000 - $1875. This depends on how much we can raise. The transportation and food for staff for this overnight trip will be $200 - 300. The total estimated cost for the mission will be $1500 - $2000. Last year we gave gifts including blankets, instant noodles, cooking oil, cookies, woolen caps, scarves and socks to the poor, elderly and needy households in a district in Danang. With your help we hope to be able to do the same this year, except in South Tra My District.

In addition, we hope to give small Christmas gifts to over 300 children at a cost $2-3 each.

If you can help us in this outreach of Jesus’ love at Christmas time, just put "elderly" or "children’s Christmas" on your check or PayPal donation.

Extra gifts! Cheer up!

Sponsors Needed

Right now, there is a needy child living in poverty who is waiting for a caring person like you. We have many children who need sponsors.

To see these children or to fill out an application go to our web site by clicking child. Without your help, many of these will not finish school. For just $30 a month you can see that the child you choose will break the cycle of poverty by getting a good education, better food, clothing, and shelter. For more information about these children or an application form, you can also contact Reggie.

Please pray that we can find sponsors for all our children and put your prayers to work by sharing the need with your church, Sunday School Class, civic club, etc.

Share your love and faith

These children urgently need sponsors who will support a child for $30 a month or the whole family for $50 a month, and will pray for them, write and encourage them.

Let’s together with their kind sponsors say to these cute little girls, “Happy birthday”. (Left to right: Hieu, Tuyet My and Quynh Tram)

About me: My family’s situation is difficult. We are living in a rented house (about $50/month). My father has spinal pain and my mother has asthma so they cannot find a stable job. My parents are working as recycling collectors and sometimes they rake clams in the river to earn a little more money. However, their incomes are still low and cannot afford to cover our daily expenses. I also have a twin brother and an older brother. Three of us are in school. It is extremely hard for my parents to pay the monthly house rent, the school fees and the extra classes for three of us and the daily need. I look forward to a support for our family.

Family members:

LOVE’s note: A family sponsorship is highly recommended.

(Luke 14:13-14 NIV)  But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

(Prov 31:8-9 NIV)  "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."

(Psa 41:1-3 NKJV)  Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.
