Love Of Vietnam Expressed

Helping the poor and needy

(1 John 3:16-18 NKJV): By this, we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

July 2013

To our supporters

LOVE’s staff is really busy collecting report cards and surveys from each child. From this we have prepared annual updates for each child which you should receive later this month or early July. We have also determined how many grade level sets of text books are needed for distribution in July and the number and kind of school uniforms needed.

Those going into grade 10 will not receive these things until August because they must pass a transition exam to enter the 10th grade. We will not receive the results from their exams until later this month.

Also, LOVE has made the decision to discontinue payments by check. There are several reasons for this, but the main reason is turnaround time. It takes us 3-4 weeks here in Vietnam before we receive notification of your donation, while PayPal takes only 2-3 days. We felt this was a good time as our treasurer is moving and we were going to have to change the mailing address for checks anyway. I hope this will not make much inconvenience to those who send checks. If you pay by check, please cancel your “bill pay” payment at your bank and go online to subscribe with PayPal. Click Make Payments Online. Please email me if you have questions. If a check is your only choice, we will continue receiving checks, but the address will change soon.

The children who receive letters or cards from their sponsors are encouraged so much and are so happy. More than half of our children are written to on a regular basis. Many receive letters every month. Thank you to those who write regularly. I can’t express enough how eagerly these children thirst for your letters. It is such a blessing to see their joy when they hear from you. Others are disappointed when they do not get a letter and others have sadly learned not to expect anything, rather than be disappointed.

Your letters are not only an encouragement, but an inspiration to your child and their families.

Sponsors Needed

Right now, there is a needy child living in poverty who is waiting for a caring person like you. We have many children who need sponsors.

To see these children or to fill out an application go to our web site by clicking child. Without your help, many of these will not finish school. For just $30 a month you can see that the child you choose will break the cycle of poverty by getting a good education, better food, clothing, and shelter. For more information about these children or an application form, you can also contact Reggie, who lives in Danang.

Please pray that we can find sponsors for all our children and put your prayers to work by sharing the need with your church, Sunday School Class, civic club, etc.

Share your love and faith

These children urgently need sponsors who will support a child for $30 a month or the whole family for $50 a month, and will pray for them, write and encourage them.

About me:  I am in 6th grade of Nguyen Chi Thanh Secondary School, and I go to school in the afternoon. We are a catholic family and there are five members in our family. My father has mental illness for years so he cannot work and earn money; my mother also has to pay for his treatment. My oldest sister is in 12th grade and this is her crucial year at school as she will have a graduation exam and then an entrance exam to the University. She needs to take extra classes in order to have good preparation for the incoming times. My brother is in 10th grade. There is only my mother who earns the money in our family. In the afternoon, my mother sells food at the street and she can earn around $2-$3 a day. She cleans and tidies our neighbor’s house to earn more incomes when she has free time. However, we are still facing issues with school fee and family basic needs.

Family members:

· Vo Quang Khai (1968)-Father-mental issues

· Truong Thi Minh Hieu (1966)-Mother-street vendor

· Vo Thi Hong Hanh (1995)-oldest sister-12th grade

· Vo Thanh Nhan (1997)-brother-10th grade

LOVE’s note:  A family sponsorship is recommended, but any help is highly appreciated!

(Mark 10:21 NKJV)  Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me."

(Psa 41:1-3 NKJV)  Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.
