Love Of Vietnam Expressed

Helping the poor and needy

(1 John 3:16-18 NKJV) By this, we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

November 2012

We at LOVE wish to take time to gives thanks

first to God

and to each of you for being a vessel God works through, for your prayers, for sharing yourselves with the children, and your financial contributions.

May you have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!

October is usually a quiet month, but we have been buzzing with extra activities. There was nearly $2,000 in extra giving. This includes 2 laptops and other extra gifts and help to the families below.

We have had 4 serious emergencies. Three families with deaths in their family. The 12-year sister of one of our children was hit by a truck (Aug.) while returning from school on her bicycle and killed instantly. The father of another died after a long fight with cirrhosis of the liver, and the father of one of our new families was killed in a motorbike accident.

In addition, a brother of another child is being helped as he just had an operation for a cancer of the lymphocytes.

And the amount above doesn’t include the money that is still coming in from many of you, as you have responded to the accident of Nam Tran and Lien Chau.

The sponsors of these children and others have opened their hearts and have given sacrificially. Thank you all.

Looking Ahead

November will be a month of planning and fund raising.

  1. We will be making plans for a humanitarian mission in December, carrying clothing, blankets, food, etc. to a very poor ward in Da Nang or Quang Nam. The cost will range around $1,500.

  2. We’re going to provide Christmas parties and gifts to each of our children, about $3,000.

  3. A medical (or dental) mission in November and/or December. About $1000 per mission.

In the spirit of the celebration of our LORD Jesus’ birth, please give extra to make these things possible. We have some funds already, but need to raise an extra $4,000 or more if possible to make all this happen. Just notate "Jesus Celebration" with your donation.

How our children did last school year

Number children moving up a grade level

Number children moving from Elementary to Middle School

Number children moving from Middle School to High School

High school graduation

Jr. College, College, & university graduation

In addition:

Continued education after HS

Number we assisted in Jr. College, College, & university

Editor’s note: With the help of our sponsors and supporters, our children were given the needed support to perform at their best level. Without this help many more would not have moved on to middle school.

The most critical stage is the jump from middle school to high school. At this age the compulsive education law ends and many more would not have gone on. Some would even be forced to go out and work by their parents, but as you can see, most children had the background needed to pass the test into high school and are continuing their education. This is made possible by your support and them being able to take the extra courses necessary to pass these tests.

Looking down the table we see that all 18 of those in grade 12 graduated, and of the 73 you supported in university or college, all 12 of those in their final year graduated.

About me: My mother has suffered from pain in her spinal column for a long time and she is only able to do the little easy things in farming. My father is the main earner in our crowded family but his income is low and unstable. In addition, we have lost our crops lately due to the climate change. My father is also trying to do whatever job he can find to earn more income but it is not much. Thus, we are always living in destitution. Four of us are at school and we don’t have any chance to take extra classes which are needed to help us pass the tests for middle and high school as well as college later on.

(Mark 10:21 NKJV) Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me."

(Psa 41:1-3 NKJV) Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.
